2.) This means we own nothing. We are mere stewards or managers of the goods God has placed in our care.
3.) God expects us to develop and nurture our gifts just like the two servants in today's gospel and the woman in the first reading.. God also, expects us to share his blessings with others. If we do not share we run the risk of being called "wicked, lazy louts".
4.) The more we move into a stewardship way of life, the happier we will be. We will be more in tune with how blessed we are. We will enjoy sharing our lives with others, blessing them with our gifts. We will never be happy as long as we are stingy with what God has given us. The more we have, the more we will think we need. Stewardship is what we choose after we say we are disciples of Jesus. None of us will adopt a stewardship way of life over night; but, we can begin or we can expand and deepen whatever sense of stewardship we already have.
A Prayer of a Stewardship
Lord God, you alone are the source of every good gift, of the vast array of our universe, and the mystery of each human life. We praise you and we thank you for your great power and your tender, faithful LOVE.
Everything we are and everything we have is your gift, and after having created us you have given us into the keeping of Your Son, JESUS CHRIST.
Fill our minds with HIS truth and our hearts with HIS love, that in HIS Spirit we may be bonded together into a community of faith, a parish family, a caring people.
In the Name and Spirit of Jesus, we commit ourselves to be good stewards of the gifts entrusted to us, to share our time, our talent and our material gifts as an outward sign of the Treasure we hold in Jesus. AMEN
