Family Promise

Celebrate Christmas 2018 by serving families without homes.

Our Family Promise guests will be here soon! Just as Mary and Joseph sought shelter in Bethlehem, there are families without homes who will be safe with us this Christmas, thanks to all of you. Please check our Signup Genius for donations and volunteers to see how you can help. We especially need help on Christmas Day. Hosting slots are just 2 hours to allow our volunteers time to spend with their families. Please keep us in your prayers. God bless you!

We will be outside Church the weekend of Dec. 15-16 to recruit volunteers and accept donations of non-perishable items and food. Perishable items should be brought to Church the morning of December 23, before or after your morning Mass. Volunteers will be outside Church to accept them.

August 2017 News

Ascension just finished our first host week as part of the Interfaith Hospitality Network for Family Promise of Brevard.  We sheltered and fed 3 families, including 4 adults and 10 children ages < 1 week to 14 years old. Yes, we helped one family welcome their newborn!  Family Promise of Brevard is a non-profit organization whose mission is to address homelessness in our community – one family at a time.

Thank you to everyone who helped to make this week a blessed one:

Our Pastor Fr. Eamon and the entire parish who opened their doors and hearts.

Everyone who donated to stock our refrigerator and pantry and provide supplies for hospitality. The list is very, very long- just know that you are loved!

Thank you to all the ministry groups that donated their time, talent and treasure: The Ascension Thrift Store, the ladies of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, the Hispanic Ministry, Just Faith, the Secular Franciscan Community, the Ascension Council of Catholic Women, the Vietnamese Community, Women’s CRHP Team 43, Women of Faith, Women of the Word, the Knights of Columbus.

To everyone who helped set up the Buescher Center, make beds, cook food, clean, wash laundry, serve as evening hosts and overnight hosts, take-down, clean-up and put-away on our last day.

You transformed meeting rooms into spaces of comfort, safety, and hospitality.

Extra special thanks to our families who volunteered: The Gander family, The Wells family, and the Babilonia family. The time that parents and children spent eating, socializing and playing with our guests and their children was priceless.

Soon we will know when our next hosting opportunity will be. Please continue to pray for our guests and this ministry. You may not know their names but God does!

Family Promise needs our help all year long. To learn more about what you can do visit

God bless you!
