The Fiftieth Year of Jubilee for the Israelites was a time of joy and a year of pardon and forgiveness. Above all, it was a time of great rejoicing. The word jubilee comes from the Hebrew word  yôvel meaning "a ram's horn."  From this instrument-the ram's horn-which for us today would be likened to the trumpet blast, the year of great rejoicing was announced and proclaimed.

Our Third EDGE Bike-A-Thon is Saturday, November 21, 2009

Ride with EDGE to support the building of houses for Brevard County families in need of decent, affordable shelter. 

• Registration: Ascension Catholic School Cafeteria from 8:00 am – 9:00 am.
• Ride begins at 9:00am – target finish by 10:30a.m.
• Riders receive a FREE T-shirt, lunch, and a charmed surprise.
• Guest of riders may eat lunch for a donation.
• Custom Photo Opp's will be available for a $3.00 donation

This is an invitation from our friends at Congregations for Community Action (CCA) who work so diligently to improve our community and address social injustices through their grassroots efforts.  They graciously ask us to join them at their dinner & silent auction to be held Friday December 4 at the Ascension Parish Hall. This will be a wonderful, festive occasion -- and a great opportunity to learn more about the work of CCA in our neighborhood. Come to the dinner and bring your friends and families, especially folks who don't yet know about the great work CCA is doing.  The CCA leaders, board and staff are glad to have you pass this invitation along to your email network. Everyday is a day to rejoice and thank God for all our blessings. If you are 55 years or older, we would love for you to join your fellow parishioners for a traditional Thanksgiving Feast following the 10 AM Mass on Thanksgiving Day. Doors open around 11:15 AM and dinner is served at 12:15 PM. Tickets are not required, but reservations are necessary. We would like to have responses by Nov. 20. If you would like to bring something to share, a vegetable dish or dessert would be great.
