Marriage Preparation

Preparation Process for Marriage in the Catholic Church involves the following steps:

  • Two meetings with Priest or Deacon
  • Two meetings with Support Couple in their home to conduct Foccus – a highly recognized questionnaire with discussion that helps engaged couples to explore how they think and feel about issues such as Communication, problem solving, Spirituality, Finances, in-laws, etc.
  • Pre-Cana or Engaged Encounter – This is a diocesan sponsored event designed to help the engaged couple grow in communication skills and dialog about man important issues.
  • Meet with our Music & Liturgy to plan the music liturgy for your wedding.

You may have your ceremony with or without a Mass.

Reliable research shows that couples who go through a good preparation program have a much better chance of surviving and growing through the first years of marriage than couples who do not participate in a marriage preparation program.

If interested in having your marriage ceremony at Ascension your first step is to meet with the Pastor, Fr. Eamon Tobin, 254-1595, ext 3070.
