It is wonderful when we are able to go to Confession in a normal, traditional way. But that seems hard for many, many of us. All of us, I assume do feel a need for a tangible gesture of God’s mercy. Our Advent Confession Special offers this to all who have a problem going to confession in the normal way. The last time we offered this form of the Sacrament, many came who had not been to the sacrament for decades. I think Jesus would be glad to see this happening.
If you would like to take advantage of this offer then come and say the following.
Forgive me, Father, for I have sinned.
I am sorry for all the sins of my life:
the ones I remember,
the ones I have forgotten, and
the ones I am not even aware of.
Then add: “I am especially sorry for ______ (name one type of sin, e.g., sins of the tongue, sins of the eyes, or sins against charity).”
The above will be on a card on a table in the middle of the vestibule of the church on Monday and Tuesday.
When I offered this a few years ago, we had hundreds of people came.
If you think this Advent Confession offer will help others, please let them know.
